Keynote

In the afternoon, a keynote presentation will be held by Rita Landeweerd. From February 2020 until May 2024 Rita was managing director of the Royal Netherlands Institute in Rome (KNIR).

For a large part of the research activities, KNIR collaborates with public organisations on a yearly basis (from Italy, the Netherlands, and other countries). Thus, KNIR is an interesting example of the role of public-public collaborations in the (international) academic context.

As an academic research institution, KNIR specialises in art history, history, ancient history, and archaeology, but it also plays an important part in maintaining scientific and cultural ties between the Netherlands and Italy. For example, it offers artists the possibility of a residency, it opens the library for external visitors by appointments, it has its own publications, the KNIR papers, and it sponsors the magazine Roma Aeterna, which is published twice a year. It is KNIR's ambition to allow students and early-career researchers to develop themselves into inspired and active beacons of culture for the future.

If you have not registered yet, secure your spot before October 29. We hope to see you there!
