The programme includes the following:

Speech by polymer scientist Marleen Kamperman.

Debate with Marcel Levi, President of the Dutch Research Council, Vinod Subramaniam, President of the Executive Board of the University of Twente, and Cisca Wijmenga, Rector Magnificus. Benjamin Leruth, political scientist and chair of the Young Academy Groningen, will lead the debate.

Presentation of the Alumnus of the Year Award.

Short speech by GUF-100 student Adrian Sidhu (Faculty of Science and Engineering).

Poem by the new poet-in-residence 2023-2024.

Musical intermezzi by student music association Bragi.
Cisca Wijmenga will open the academic ceremony and will say goodbye as Rector of the University of Groningen later during the ceremony. To this end, chair of the Board of the University Jouke de Vries will give a short farewell speech. Jacquelien Scherpen, the new Rector Magnificus, will be officially inaugurated and will give a short acceptance speech.
Afterwards, there will be a reception in the choir of the Martinikerk until 6.30 p.m.

Please note: a paper invitation serves as your ticket. The paper invitation will be available for collection after registration, or you can request for it to be sent to you by indicating this on the registration form.
