YAN and the future of AI

When:We 23-11-2022 19:30 - 21:30
Where:Van Swinderen Huys Groningen

Should robots be allowed to kill?

What can AI learn from the movement of fish and birds?

It's our pleasure to invite you for the interactive YAN meeting on 23 November in Van Swinderen Huys, Groningen. We will discuss the next big step in the development and adoption of AI. AI is intelligence demonstrated by machines, as opposed to the natural intelligence displayed by animals and humans. From self-driving cars to innovative drug development: AI will fundamentally change our lives in many different ways. But what about AI implemented in military applications? And how can AI be used to allow groups of autonomous robots to work together?

Speakers

  • Taís Fernanda Blauth PhD Researcher, will inform us about the legal aspects of military applications of AI.
  • Ming Cao, full professor and director Jantina Tammes School of Digital Society, Technology and AI, will talk about control systems that allow groups of autonomous robots to work together. The algorithms he develops for robots are partly inspired by the movements of animals, particularly fish and birds, which also act in formation.

The discussion will be moderated by Remco Kouwenhoven, Director Alumni relations and Philanthropy UG.
