public academy Motorcycle gangs

The government has been fighting criminal motorcycle gangs for years. Branches of Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (OMGs) can also be found in the Northern Netherlands. How is the fight against the clubs progressing and how is it ensured that they really cease to exist? What compelling reasons must a judge hear to ban an association?

These and many more questions are addressed in the Public Academy for the Judiciary. Guests include public prosecutor Lars Stempher, who coordinates the fight against motorcycle gangs nationally, and Fred van der Winkel, president of the Northern Netherlands District Court.

You can participate in the broadcast yourself. Send your questions to the guests in advance to rechtspraak@dvhn.nl. You can also ask questions during the broadcast by email or on the DvhN Facebook page.

Through lectures aimed at the general public, the Publieksacademie voor de Rechtspraak (Public Academy for Jurisprudence) seeks to satisfy this immense interest. Judges, public prosecutors, professors and other experts discuss legal topics that affect many people. The lectures are suitable for a wide audience and do not require knowledge of the law.

The Public Academy is a collaboration between the Court of the Northern Netherlands, the Faculty of Law at the University of Groningen, the Northern Netherlands Public Prosecution Service and the Dagblad van het Noorden newspaper.
