Data Research Centre

The activities of the DRC have largely been merged with the Jantine Tammes School of Digital Society, Technology and AI. Please visit its site for an overview of data-related activities at the University of Groningen.

The Data Research Centre (DRC) of Campus Fryslân combines expertise in data science with critical insight on interactions between society and technology. It functions as a co-creation space between researchers, students, and external stakeholders for research in all disciplines that connect to the domains of data science and its societal implications.

The DRC puts a particular emphasis on cross-disciplinary research. It aims to contribute concrete solutions based on reflective and critical analysis with a holistic approach and across disciplinary and cultural borders.

The Data Research Centre plays a crucial role for researchers of Campus Fryslân and facilitates data science training and practice amongst all educational programmes of Campus Fryslân. Events are also regularly hosted (workshops on blockchain, data analytics).

Our team collaborates with industry, civil society, intergovernmental organizations, and governmental partners. The Data Research Centre is partner and host of DataFryslân.

The work of the Data Research Centre spans these focus areas:

  • Data Governance, Security and Human Rights
  • Human-Data Interaction
  • Data Applications and Organisations
