Introducing our new scientific staff member Ranjita K. Bose
ENTEG proudly introduces Dr. Ranjita K. Bose as new tenure track assistant professor in Rheology. Ranjita recently started her research in the research group Product Technology of Prof. dr. Francesco Picchioni.
Ranjita Bose graduated with distinction from Nirma Institute of Technology at Gujarat University (India) and joined Drexel University in Philadelphia, USA, to pursue a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, under the supervision of Prof. Kenneth Lau. Her dissertation was on the biological applications of polymers created using initiated chemical vapor deposition, a solvent free surface polymerization technique. She also developed novel tunable polymer thin films and coatings on micro- and nano- scale substrates for applications of controlled drug delivery, super-hydrophobic surfaces, biomaterial implants and moisture barrier materials. At Drexel she received the George Hill Jr. Fellowship.
In 2012, Ranjita moved to the Netherlands to pursue a postdoc in self-healing polymers in Delft University of Technology under the supervision of Prof. Sybrand van der Zwaag. She has been working on unraveling the underlying mechanisms of self-healing with special focus on the contributions of physical and chemical interactions in the complex phenomenon of self-healing. She worked on several classes of polymers which can heal intrinsically, without the need of additional healing agents. In 2013 she was awarded the Drittmittel Fähig, a competitive personal grant awarded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) under their self-healing materials special priority program (SPP) 1568 for young researchers to enable them to pursue independent research.
Ranjita’s current research interests are vapor deposition of polymer thin films and coatings, rheology, structure-property relationships and studying physical phenomena such as self-healing.
