Are you interested in religion and the way it influences society, culture and politics? Do you want to learn more about this phenomenon, which affects the everyday lives of so many people around the world? Would you like to study abroad to experience a different way of life? If your answer is YES, then the University of Groningen’s Faculty of Religion, Culture and Society in the Netherlands is the place to be!
The Faculty is a leading European institution for the study of religion. As a research and knowledge hub our researchers study issues relating to religion, culture and society.
We offer an exchange programme in Religion and Culture to both Bachelor’s and Master’s students. This programme trains you to understand the cultural and social dynamics of religion and religious phenomena. You will enjoy our courses if you enjoy reading and are interested in history, sociology, psychology, philosophy, politics and cultural anthropology.
Lectures take place in small groups, so students can benefit optimally from the lecturers’ broad expertise. The courses are characterised by a continuing interaction between the lecturers and the students, leaving ample room for student participation, discussion and continuous coaching.
We have established exchange contracts for student mobility with universities all over the world and we participate in several exchange programmes like the Erasmus+ programme and Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (ICM) programme.
